I have Paleo slow cooker recipes for pretty much anything that can be cooked in a crockpot. I pretty much think that crockpots are one of the best inventions when it comes to cooking!

I love using my slow cooker because it is so easy to put all of the ingredients for a complete meal in one pot. Then I can come back to it a few hours later and it is all cooked and ready to eat.

I would not survive making healthy, yummy meals without a crockpot. You may think I'm crazy, but I actually own three crockpots.

The main reason I have so many is so I can make bone broth in one all the time, one for the main dish and one for the side dish.

Plus, I come from a large family and it's nice to have a few extras around for family parties or to loan to family and friends.

I think slow cookers are wonderful. I don't know how my grandmother ever lived without one. Oh wait, I do know, she spent the bigger part of her day in the kitchen cooking meals. My grandmother really could have used a crockpot.

Do I have to cook chicken before putting in slow cooker?

Absolutely not. I actually use frozen chicken and just put it straight in the slow cooker.

How long does it take to cook raw chicken in a crockpot?

Boneless, skinless chicken breasts are very easy to overcook and only take 1.5 to 2.5 hours on LOW (never on. high). Boneless chicken thighs take 3-4 hours on LOW or 2-3 hours on HIGH. When in doubt, chicken is done when the internal temp reaches 165 degrees F.

Is it OK to put raw chicken in slow cooker with vegetables?

For sure. As long as you cook your dish so the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees F, everything else will be safe to eat too.

Is a slow cooker a healthy way to cook?

This depends on what you are comparing it to, but generally, since you are cooking low and slow you get a lot of flavors without having to add things like oil most of the time.

Here are some of my favorites from my blog -

  • Crock Pot Roast with Potatoes, Carrots and Gravy {Video}

    315 minutes

This really is a complete meal all in one pot and is an easy dinner. I really like this recipe because the broth helps make everything tender, moist, and flavorful. A few tips are to get a good-quality roast with good marbling, put the veggies in later than the roast, and don't forget to make the gravy - it has all the flavor!

  • Pork Crock Pot Chili Verde Recipe

    405 minutes

This chili verde recipe has so much flavor! The pork shoulder gets so tender and the tomatillo, onion, green chilis, garlic, peppers, and spices all mix together to make an explosion of flavor in your bowl, without very much heat.

It's naturally Paleo and gluten-free so people on all diets won't think there's anything "different" about it. It's also great to meal-prep it by making a double batch and freezing the extras in individual serving containers.

Isn't this so pretty? You can make it really pretty like the photos, but truth be told, when I'm making it for my family, I don't layer the zucchini. I get the same flavor of zucchini, tomatoes, and "cheese" sauce with less work!

I like to use ground turkey for the meat filling because it has a lighter taste than ground beef and is lower in fat. But mostly I just like to use it for variety and it really is one of my favorite proteins.
