Jan Allison Griffith Taylor passed away on July 13, 2024, surrounded by loving family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Faith Lutheran Church in Marshfield. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Her best job in life was being a mother and Grammy. Her children and their families were her moon, stars, and dreams come true. She was born to Kenneth Griffith and Mildred (Sabrowsky) Griffith in Iola Wisconsin, on October 15, 1949.
Jan grew up in Appleton, Wisconsin. She was the middle child. Her brother Jon preceded her in death. She is survived by Jody and her husband Gary of Appleton and sister-in-law Cheryl Griffith of Gresham Wisconsin.
Jan graduated from Appleton West High School in 1967. She went on to earn a degree from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point, followed by her Masters degree from Viterbo.
She moved to Marshfield, Wisconsin in 1972. She taught Kindergarten for twenty years. Throughout the years her students brought her much joy. Jan had a love of nature and has enjoyed many trips with friends and family. Many summers were spent in Waupaca, WI., while at their family cottage. She enjoyed her gardens, golfing, kayaking, swimming, walks, reading, and being with friends and family. She also enjoyed sewing, which resulted in many Halloween costumes, and quilts. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
Her children and their families meant the world to Jan. Her daughters Allison, and son-in-law James Martin, Beth, and son-in-law Dave Spears, and son Craig (CT) and daughter-in-law Jaime survive her. She was blessed with grandchildren that she loved dearly. Anya, Grace, Kate, Eva, and Samuel.
Jan was a very active member of her community. She volunteered at SOS food pantry and served the altar committee at church. She also served on the church council, was a member of the Green Team and Social concerns, and taught Sunday School. She also sewed Memory Bears for hospice.
Jan was an amazing mother who genuinely cared deeply for her family. She was a true friend who loved to laugh and be there for anyone who needed anything. Jan, above all else, was kind. She brought kindness with her everywhere. Jan’s family was inspired by her kindness and have huge shoes to fill to carry on her legacy of love.
