Ground control to Major Tom: Hz Watches pays tribute to our planet with the HZ.03 Blue Marble, a stunning timepiece that's both functional and artistic. This Australian microbrand's latest creation is a testament to the brand's commitment to quality and innovation, offering a unique blend of style and substance. With a focus on community and accessibility, Hz Watches has established itself as a leader in the microbrand space, and the HZ.03 Blue Marble is no exception.
The HZ.03 Blue Marble is a dressy daily watch inspired by the famous 1972 photograph of the Earth taken aboard Apollo 17. It features a titanium case with a trio of enamel sector dials (as well as an aventurine dial) and a small seconds indicator that uses our planet as a visual reference. The watch is powered by a quartz movement, specifically a Seiko VD78, known for its robustness and accuracy.
The case is 36mm in diameter and 43.5mm lug-to-lug, making it the smallest and lightest Hz model yet. It's a breeze on the wrist and will fit most people comfortably. The caseback features an enamelled Hz logo medallion, adding a touch of elegance to the design. The dial is the star of the show, with four options available: white, blue, black enamel, and aventurine. The enamel models are expertly crafted, with the white enamel being a standout favorite for its milky appearance.
The strap is a genuine leather strap with a titanium pin buckle, available in white, blue, black, and grey. While the strap is a minor criticism, the quick-release spring bars make it easy to swap out for an aftermarket solution. The movement is the Seiko VD78, a reliable and accurate quartz movement known for its ease of service.
The HZ.03 Blue Marble is available now online directly from Hz Watches, having made its debut at WatchFest in Sydney and SpringSprangSprung in Singapore. Shipping will commence on November 11th, with all watches complete and ready to be shipped. The price is £179/€199/US$239/A$349 for the enamel dials and £209/€239/US$279/A$399 for the aventurine model.
