A terrifyingly massive crocodile, measuring an astonishing six meters in length and weighing an estimated one tonne, has been captured and relocated in Riau, Indonesia. This giant reptile, believed to be around 50 years old, caused quite a stir among the locals of Sungai Undan Village.

The crocodile's presence was first noticed on October 31, 2025, when it was seen swimming close to a community organization and then entering a nearby ditch. Junaidi Ismail, the Head of the Indragiri Hilir Fire Department, suggested that the crocodile had ventured out of its natural habitat in search of food.
"This massive creature left its home in pursuit of sustenance," Ismail explained, highlighting the potential impact of reduced food sources on the crocodile's behavior.

The discovery of this massive predator led to a collaborative response involving the local community, police, and the Fire and Rescue Department (Damkarmat). The crocodile's size and the potential danger it posed to humans and livestock made it a priority for immediate action.
"Its size and movement inside the confined space heightened local anxiety," said a resident, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.
A Dramatic Rescue
The rescue and relocation effort was a challenging and dramatic operation. Dozens of people were involved, and it took several hours to secure the crocodile. Residents and Damkarmat officers used large ropes to restrain the animal, carefully securing its mouth, legs, and tail to ensure the safety of everyone involved. Once immobilized, the crocodile was carefully lifted onto a double-cabin truck for transportation.
The relocation process was a delicate and lengthy operation, given the crocodile's size and the need for strict safety protocols.
A New Home
The crocodile arrived at the Inhil Fire Department Headquarters on November 1, 2025, at around 17:30 WIB, with visible injuries on its back and limbs. The following morning, the Fire Department's Rescue Team took the initiative to bathe the crocodile, helping to regulate its body temperature and reduce stress.
This procedure was conducted to stabilize the crocodile's condition before further assessment. However, authorities have yet to release information on the next steps for its care and long-term placement.
