Essential Tips and Tricks - The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom Guide - IGN (2024)

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom has a lot of open-ended exploration and creativity for a top-down Zelda game, and you'll be able to summon Echoes of objects and monsters to be used in various ways - both for exploring and solving puzzles, and use in combat as well. This page lists essential Echoes of Wisdom tips and tricks to keep in mind as you begin to explore the vast land of Hyrule and acquire more Echoes.

  • Once an echo is summoned, it's not glued to place! Zelda can push wooden boxes, lift pots, and more with echoes. Give it a try and don't worry too much about perfect placement. Zelda can even lift certain monsters so that they can continue to attack in certain directions.
  • Zelda may not always have a sword, but she's rewarded just as much as Link for destruction. See a wooden box? Throw it! No pot should be safe in your presence! Storage items and even things like rocks contain useful ingredients and sometimes rupees.

  • Low on hearts? Take a rest! Make an echo of an old bed anywhere and, so long as it's safe, Zelda can relax on the bed and heal slowly over time. You can eventually find better quality beds that restore more hearts per tick, but cost more point to summon.
  • If you're having trouble evading guards or hostile enemies, you might be surprised to find that Zelda can hide in pots. Press B when next to one and she'll hop right in. Use this to evade enemies! She can move around while in a pot too.
  • Zelda is pretty adaptable when using the Tri Rod. You can summon echoes and bind to things while in the water, or when climbing ladders or rocky surfaces. In side-scrolling environments, you can point down or up to summon Echoes above or below you.
  • Similar to Breath of the Wild, you can combine various ingredients to make different smoothie recipes at any Business Scrub's Smoothie Shop. Once you learn a recipe, you can view the recipe list and even order one from the scrub if you don't have the ingredients anymore, but be prepared to pay a hefty sum.
  • If you start finding strange Key Items with no discernible purpose, be on the lookout for the inventor named Dampe after beating the first few dungeons. He'll need your help coming up with new automatons, and these key items are often the exact thing he's looking for.
  • Be sure to check out Echo descriptions for tips on how to use them or, if it's a monster, how to defeat them easier next time. Certain monsters have huge weaknesses to certain elements like fire or wind, being pulled with bind, and more!
  • Upon the Crow echo's first attack, it'll launch stolen rupees from its foe! Be ready to collect them.
  • Sometimes the best offense is also a good defense. When you might be overwhelmed by enemies, place several Sea Urchins in front of you, creating a temporary damaging barrier between you and an attacker to get some breathing room.

  • Many monster Echoes can be picked up and tossed. Aerial enemies will even allow you to glide when picked up, and Deku Babas will continue to attack as you hold them above your head!
  • If you see a shadowy blob floating around small rifts that dot the landscape, you can defeat the foes that appear from it to earn energy normally found only in Rifts. These blobs will often spot you at a good range and are hard to avoid.
  • Stilled Worlds are constantly generating pieces of energy that you can use to replenish your Swordfighter Form meter, and shadowy enemies will always drop more, so don't be afraid to use the form to quickly cut them down and get back the energy you've lost.
  • Summoning food can sometimes work better than you'd expect to throw enemies off your scent. Use Meat to distract monsters, or Grilled Fish to distract sharks -- even a Rock Roast will distract the rock Tweelus enemies.
  • There's no real penalty or limit to how often or fast you can summon. Since certain enemies will attack right out of the gate but then linger for awhile afterwards, you can keep resummoning them to launch their initial attack, instead of waiting for them to attack twice.
  • If something looks out of place or unusually alone, chances are there's something hidden there. If it's a boulder, try moving it with bind. If it's grass or a flower, try destroying it with Zelda's spin.
  • The trampoline appears very early in your adventure, and is the easiest way to quickly jump on top of trees, which can often allow you to access whole new areas by running across treetops!

  • Another early echo you shouldn't miss can be found in the Suthorn Prairie. If you bind to a Crawltula, you can use it to climb almost any vertical surface, and access areas otherwise off-limits.
  • While you can go almost anywhere after completing the first dungeon, don't think you'll have seen everything the first time around. As the story progresses, characters may have new quests for you, and minor rifts can appear in areas you've already completed main quests in, allowing you to earn more Might Crystals and increase Tri's power.
  • Be sure to experiment with different types of Echoes to uncover other ways they can be used: Wooden objects like Beds float on water, while stone objects like Boulders can float on lava as platforms.
