When I was a kid I had a serious affinity for baby dill pickles.

In fact, my mom and dad had a hard time keeping baby dill pickles in the house. I could go through a jar of them in a day or two.

As an adult, my pickle cravings have only intensified, which is why I first made this creamy and delicious dill pickle pasta salad!

How to Make Dill Pickle Pasta Salad

To make this yummy pasta salad you’ll need the following ingredients:

  • 1 lb dry shell pasta
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon McCormick’s Salad Supreme seasoning
  • ⅛ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded Colby-Monterey Jack cheese
  • 2 cups sliced dill pickles
  • ½ cup dill pickle juice
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill weed

The pasta salad is really easy to put together when you have your ingredients prepped.

  1. Boil pasta; drain, rinse and place in large bowl.
  2. In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, sour cream, dill weed, Dijon mustard, Salad Supreme, pepper, and pickle juice. Toss with pasta.
  3. Stir in remaining ingredients. Cover and refrigerate 2 hours before serving.

That tablespoon of McCormick’s Salad Supreme seasoning gives this pickle pasta salad a special little kick. If you’ve never used this seasoning mix before you definitely need to give it a try. I use it in a lot of my pasta salad recipes!

Also, one tip about making this dill pickle pasta salad is that the dressing will firm up a bit after chilling in the refrigerator. Sometimes I make a little extra dressing if I’m taking this dish to an event.

I pour the extra dressing on top and stir to combine just before serving. This isn’t totally necessary but it does help to loosen things up a bit!

As much as I love the crunch of those dill pickles, I also adore the creaminess of the dressing and the cheese.

I used to do cubed cheese in this salad but I find that I like it grated so much better. It really adds something special to this dill pickle pasta salad recipe!

Can I leave the Salad Seasoning out or is there a different replacement?

    Thanks!!

This looks amazing! I’ve never had a pasta salad with shells so I’m very excited to try it. Do you think if I used a different cheese – like cheddar – it would heavily alter the flavor of the recipe? Thanks for sharing, can’t wait to try it at home!
