Imagine this: you're a proud BMW owner, but suddenly, a shocking announcement hits the news. Nearly 200,000 BMW vehicles are being recalled due to a potential fire risk!
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has advised owners of these vehicles to take immediate action. The affected models include the 2019-22 Z4, 2019-21 330i, 2020-22 X3 and X4, 2020-22 530i, 2021-22 430i (standard and convertible), 2022 230i, and even some Toyota Supras manufactured by BMW. That's a lot of cars!
But here's where it gets controversial: the issue lies with the engine starter relay, which can corrode and potentially cause a fire. NHTSA is urging owners to park their vehicles outside and away from buildings or other cars until they can confirm their car is safe or get it fixed.
The German automaker, BMW, hasn't commented yet, but NHTSA is planning a phased recall due to parts availability. Owners can expect notification letters soon, and they can also check their vehicle's status on NHTSA.gov starting November 14th.
This isn't the first time BMW has faced such issues. In 2017, they recalled over 1 million cars and SUVs for similar fire risks, and the recall was expanded in 2019 to include another 185,000 vehicles.
So, what do you think? Is this a serious issue that needs immediate attention, or is it being blown out of proportion? Share your thoughts in the comments below! We'd love to hear your opinions on this controversial topic.
