I want you to stay

Grimmjow's parents weren’t that attentive of him. Not to say that they didn’t love him, but they were very busy individuals. But life was okay with his best friend Shirosaki. They met when they were six, and from that moment on, they were inseparable. Shirosaki was the one constant in Grimmjow’s life, providing the companionship and understanding he didn't get at home.

One summer day, they sat together under the large oak tree in the park near their neighbourhood, sharing stories and dreams. Shirosaki, with his wild white hair and mischievous grin, was always the more outgoing of the two, while Grimmjow, with his striking blue hair and intense eyes, played the role of the more serious counterpart.

"Hey, Grimm," Shirosaki said, lying back on the grass and looking up at the sky. "What do you think we'll be like when we're older?"

Grimmjow shrugged, a rare smile playing at the corners of his mouth. "Dunno. As long as we stick together, I think we'll be okay."

Shirosaki chuckled. "Yeah, we'll take on the world together."

They shared everything, from toys and secrets to dreams and fears. Shiro, with his wild white hair and mischievous grin, brought a light into Grimmjow’s life that his parents rarely could.

As they grew older, their bond only strengthened. They were a dynamic duo, known for their spirited antics and unbreakable camaraderie. Shiro was always the crazier of the two, constantly coming up with wild ideas that Grimmjow couldn't resist. Their laughter echoed through the playgrounds and streets of their neighborhood, a testament to their unyielding friendship.

'Til I'm in the grave
'Til I rot away, dead and buried
'Til I'm in the casket you carry

But when they were twelve, the boys had to face their biggest obstacle yet.

Grimmjow and Shirosaki sat cross-legged on the floor of Shiro's room, surrounded by an assortment of snacks and comic books. The afternoon sun streamed through the window, casting a warm glow over the two best friends as they animatedly discussed their latest superhero adventures.

Suddenly, there was a soft knock on the door. Shiro's parents entered the room, their faces etched with worry. Grimmjow noticed immediately, his playful demeanor shifting to one of concern.

"Hey, Mom, Dad," Shiro said, his usual exuberance tempered by the sight of his parents' serious expressions. "What's going on?"

Shirosaki’s mother knelt down beside her son, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. His father placed a comforting hand on her shoulder before speaking, his voice steady but heavy with emotion.

"Shiro, Grimmjow," he began, glancing between the two boys. "We need to talk to you about something very important."

Grimmjow's stomach twisted into a knot, sensing the gravity of the situation. Shiro leaned forward, his eyes wide with a mix of curiosity and apprehension. "What is it, Dad?"

His farher took a deep breath, his gaze settling on his son. "Shiro, the doctors have found something in your body. It's called cancer. It's a serious illness, and it's going to be a tough journey for you."

Shiro's eyes widened further, his usually vibrant face paling. "Cancer? But... what does that mean?"

His mother’s voice trembled as she spoke, her hand gently caressing Shiro's cheek. "It means you're going to need treatment, sweetheart. Lots of doctor visits and medicine to help you get better. But we'll be with you every step of the way."

Grimmjow felt a lump form in his throat, his mind struggling to grasp the magnitude of what he was hearing. He looked at Shiro, whose eyes were now brimming with tears. "Does it... does it hurt?"

Her eyes welled up, and she pulled her son into a tight embrace. "Sometimes it might, but we'll do everything we can to make sure you're as comfortable as possible. You're strong, Shiro. We believe in you."

Shiro's shoulders shook with silent sobs, and Grimmjow felt his own eyes sting with tears. He reached out, placing a reassuring hand on Shiro's back. "Hey, Shiro. We'll get through this together, okay? I'll be with you every step of the way too."

Shiro looked up, his tear-streaked face breaking into a small, shaky smile. "Yeah, Grimm. Together."

As the two boys hugged tightly, Shiro's parents watched with heavy hearts, knowing that the road ahead would be challenging. But in that moment, the bond between Shiro and Grimmjow seemed unbreakable, a source of strength that would carry them through the darkest of times.

It started with little things.

He became slower.

“When did you become such a slow poke, Shi?”, Grimmjow teasingly smiled at his panting companion.

His energy waned.

“We don’t need to go to the woods, Shi. We can camp in the backyard”, Grimmjow reassured his sad best friend after they realized he needed to be in bed more often.

His skin grew paler.

“At this rate, you’re gonna be translucent, Shi”, the blue haired boy said, trying to lighten the mood.

Despite his deteriorating health, Shiro remained his crazy, spirited self, refusing to let the illness define him. Grimmjow stood by his side through it all, unable to fully comprehend what was happening but determined to be there for his friend.

Shiro's hair, once wild and white, was now falling out in clumps due to the chemotherapy. Determined to lighten the mood, Grimmjow grabbed a handful of the fallen hair and stuck it on his own head in a ridiculous fashion, striking a goofy pose. "Check it out, Shiro, I'm turning into a snowman!" he declared with a mischievous grin. Shiro couldn't help but burst into laughter, his pale face lighting up with genuine amusem*nt. "If you're the snowman, then I must be the coolest kid around," Shiro quipped back, his eyes sparkling with a glimmer of their old mischief. For a moment, the room was filled with the sound of their shared laughter.

Grimmjow spent countless hours at the hospital. He watched helplessly as his best friend grew weaker, the vibrancy slowly draining from his eyes. They talked about everything, just like they always had, but there was an unspoken fear between them. The day Shiro passed away, he was holding Grimmjow’s hand, his grip weak but filled with the same unbreakable bond they had always shared.

Grimmjow was only thirteen, too young to process the overwhelming anger, rage, and hurt that consumed him. The loss of Shiro left a gaping hole in his heart, one that he didn’t know how to fill. His parents' lack of attention and emotional support only made things worse. He felt abandoned, not just by them, but by the universe.

Unable to cope with his emotions, Grimmjow shut the world out. He lashed out at everyone around him, his once vibrant personality overshadowed by bitterness and anger. He pushed people away, believing that it was better to be alone than to risk feeling the pain of loss again. The boy who once found solace and joy in his friendship with Shiro had become a shadow of his former self, haunted by the memories of what he had lost.

If you go, I'm going too, uh
'Cause it was always you, alright
And if I'm turning blue, please don't save me
Nothing left to lose without my baby

Grimmjow sat in the backseat of the car, his eyes fixed on the window as the familiar landscape of his hometown slowly disappeared behind them. The houses, the streets, the places he had grown up in were all fading into the distance, replaced by the unfamiliar scenery of their new town, Karakura. His father’s promotion had necessitated this move, and despite the excitement his parents tried to convey, Grimmjow couldn't shake the anger and frustration boiling inside him.

The rhythmic sound of the car's engine did nothing to soothe him. He clenched his fists, his knuckles turning white. He was barely in his teen years, and the intensity of his emotions overwhelmed him. He didn't know how to process the loss of Shiro, his home, his friends, his school
all the things that had made up his world.

"Grimmjow, honey, you'll love the new house. It's got a big yard and your room has a great view," his mother said, her voice filled with forced cheerfulness.

He didn't respond, his gaze never leaving the window. The tall buildings and bustling streets of their old neighborhood were replaced by quieter, tree-lined roads. It felt wrong, like he was being ripped away from everything that made him who he was. The uncertainty of what lay ahead only fueled his anger.

His father glanced at him in the rearview mirror. "I know it's tough, son, but this promotion is a big opportunity for all of us. You'll make new friends, settle into a new school. It'll be an adventure."

Adventure. The word felt hollow to Grimmjow. He didn't want an adventure; he wanted his old life back. The thought of starting over in a strange place filled him with dread. He didn't know how to express any of this, didn't have the words to articulate the turmoil inside him. All he could do was sit there, staring out the window, feeling the distance grow between him and everything he had ever known.

The car turned onto a new street, leading them closer to their new home. Grimmjow's heart sank further with each passing moment. He felt tears prickling at the corners of his eyes but blinked them away fiercely. He wouldn't cry, wouldn't show weakness. Anger was easier to hold onto, a shield against the confusion and sadness he didn't know how to handle.

As the car finally pulled up to their new house, his parents exchanged hopeful glances, trying to gauge his reaction. But Grimmjow remained silent, his expression a mask of defiance. He didn't want their reassurance, didn't want their comfort. He just wanted to be left alone with his anger, the only thing that made sense in the midst of all this change.

"Let's go take a look inside," his father said, trying to sound enthusiastic.

Grimmjow slowly got out of the car, his movements stiff. He followed his parents to the front door, his mind a whirlwind of emotions he couldn't control. As they stepped inside, the unfamiliarity of the new house hit him like a wave, and he felt more lost than ever. He wanted to shout, to lash out, to make them understand how much this hurt. But all he could do was stand there, seething, trying to keep his feelings from spilling over.

The new house was nice, spacious, and bright, but it wasn't home. Not yet. And Grimmjow wasn't sure if it ever would be.

Birds of a feather, we should stick together, I know
I said I'd never think I wasn't better alone

Grimmjow stood outside the classroom, his heart pounding in his chest. The move to Karakura had already been hard enough, and now he had to start at a new junior high school. He hated the feeling of being the new kid, the outsider. The whispers, the stares, and the muttered term "hafu” only made it worse. He clenched his fists, trying to steel himself for what was to come.

The teacher, Mr. Sato, smiled warmly at him, oblivious to Grimmjow's internal turmoil. "Come on in, Grimmjow. I'll introduce you to the class."

Grimmjow took a deep breath and stepped into the classroom. Immediately, he felt dozens of eyes on him, curious and judgmental. The whispers started almost instantly, students leaning over to each other and murmuring under their breath.

"This is Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez," Mr. Sato said, his voice cheerful and welcoming. "He's just moved here, so let's make him feel at home."

Grimmjow's gaze swept across the room, feeling the weight of every stare. His jaw tightened, the urge to snap at them almost overwhelming. Then, his eyes landed on a boy near the back of the class. Something inside him shifted.

The boy had bright orange hair and a slightly bored expression, but what caught Grimmjow's attention was the striking resemblance to Shiro. But unlike Shiro, this boy had more color, a vibrant contrast to Shiro's monochrome appearance. He seemed to radiate a quiet strength, his eyes meeting Grimmjow's with a calm, unwavering gaze.

For a moment, everything else faded away. The whispers, the stares, the sense of being out of place. All of it receded as Grimmjow found himself inexplicably drawn to the boy. There was something familiar, almost comforting, in those eyes.

"Grimmjow, you can take a seat next to Ichigo over there," Mr. Sato said, gesturing to the boy with orange hair.

Grimmjow reluctantly moved to the empty desk, feeling the weight of the stares follow him. He sat down, avoiding eye contact with Ichigo, but he could feel the boy's curious gaze.

The next few days were a blur of awkward interactions and whispered comments. Grimmjow tried to keep his head down, but his frustration was building. He missed his old life, his friends, and the familiarity of his hometown. The resemblance between Ichigo and Shiro was a constant reminder of everything he had lost.

One day, the frustration boiled over. Grimmjow found himself in the schoolyard, surrounded by classmates who seemed all too interested in the new kid. Ichigo was there too, laughing with his friends, completely unaware of the storm brewing inside Grimmjow.

Without thinking, Grimmjow marched up to Ichigo and punched him square in the jaw. The playground fell silent for a moment, shocked by the sudden violence. Ichigo staggered back, a mix of surprise and anger flashing in his eyes. He quickly recovered, though, and lunged at Grimmjow.

The fight was intense, a flurry of fists and kicks, fueled by emotions neither of them fully understood. Teachers rushed in to break it up, pulling the two boys apart. Grimmjow's lip was split, and Ichigo sported a bruise on his cheek, but the physical pain was nothing compared to the turmoil inside.

As they were dragged to the principal's office, Grimmjow's mind raced. He couldn't explain why he had attacked Ichigo, why seeing him had stirred such a violent reaction. But he knew one thing for sure that this was the beginning of something rough and raw. A rivalry had been sparked, born out of confusion and unresolved feelings.

Ichigo glared at him with anger and bewilderment in his eyes. Grimmjow met his gaze, unflinching, though inside he was anything but calm. The fight had given him a release, a way to channel his frustration, but it had also created a bond, however twisted, between him and Ichigo.

As they sat outside the principal's office, waiting for their parents, Grimmjow couldn't help but steal a glance at Ichigo. He still reminded him of Shiro, and that resemblance would continue to haunt him. But now, it was more than just a reminder of the past. It was the start of their rivalry.

Can't change the weather, might not be forever
But if it's forever, it's even better

Grimmjow and Ichigo's rivalry had only intensified as they progressed into senior high. By the time they were sixteen, their confrontations had become a regular spectacle. It seemed that every interaction between them ended in a clash of fists and words.

One particularly stormy afternoon, they found themselves facing off once again. The sky was dark with looming clouds, and the air was thick with the promise of rain. Neither cared about the weather; their focus was entirely on each other.

"You think you can just keep running your mouth, Kurosaki?" Grimmjow snarled, his fists clenched at his sides.

"Only because you're always there to catch it, jackass," Ichigo shot back, his eyes blazing with defiance.

The first raindrops began to fall as their fight erupted. It was fierce and unrelenting, each blow exchanged with the pent-up frustration and anger that had built over the years. The rain soon intensified, soaking them to the bone, but they continued, their movements becoming more desperate and raw.

Suddenly, in the midst of the chaos, something shifted inside Grimmjow. He hesitated, his fist poised mid-air. The rain plastered Ichigo's orange hair to his forehead, and his eyes, usually so full of fire, now held a mixture of confusion and something deeper that Grimmjow couldn't quite place.

For a brief moment, everything else faded away—the rain, the fight, the years of rivalry. All that existed was Ichigo, standing before him, breathing heavily, water dripping down his face. Grimmjow's anger melted into something else entirely, a feeling he couldn't suppress any longer.

Before he could second-guess himself, Grimmjow closed the distance between them and pressed his lips to Ichigo's. The kiss was urgent and full of unspoken emotions, a culmination of everything they had been through.

Ichigo stiffened at first, caught off guard, but then he responded, kissing Grimmjow back with equal fervor. The world around them seemed to blur as they stood there, locked in an embrace, the rain washing away the remnants of their fight.

When they finally broke apart, both were breathless. Ichigo's eyes searched Grimmjow's face, as if trying to understand what had just happened. Grimmjow felt a rush of anxiety with a hint of nervous anticipation.

"I... I don't know why I did that," Grimmjow admitted, his voice barely audible over the rain.

The following days were awkward. Ichigo was avoiding Grimmjow like the plague, unable to face the confusion that had taken root in his heart. Grimmjow, for his part, found himself frustrated and impatient, but also strangely understanding of Ichigo's avoidance.

After a few weeks, Grimmjow had had enough. He cornered Ichigo in an empty classroom, the door closing with a decisive click. Ichigo looked up, startled, his heart pounding.

"Stop running away from me, Ichigo," Grimmjow said, his tone snarky but laced with a serious edge. "Be a man and face this."

Ichigo's eyes widened, and for a moment, he looked like he might bolt. But then he straightened, meeting Grimmjow's gaze head-on. "Face what, Grimmjow?"

Grimmjow stepped closer, his blue eyes boring into Ichigo's. "Face the fact that we both know there's something more here. You’re not gonna f*cking ignore me."

“You said you didn’t know why you did it.”

“I never said I didn’t want to. f*ck, Ichigo.”

Ichigo swallowed hard, his hands clenching at his sides. "I... I know. I just... I didn't know what to do."

Grimmjow smirked, though it was softer than usual. "You don't have to know everything, Kurosaki. Just stop avoiding me. Talk to my ass and try to figure sh*t out."

Ichigo felt a rush of relief mixed with a renewed determination. He nodded, a small smile tugging at his lips. "Coming from the asshole that attacked me for no apparent reason the week he met me."

Grimmjow's smirk widened into a genuine smile as he closed the distance between them, pressing another kiss to Ichigo's lips. This time, it was slower, more tender, a promise of what was to come.

In the bustling halls of Karakura High, where the usual sounds of chatter and laughter echoed off the walls, Grimmjow and Ichigo walked side by side. Their peers and friends, accustomed to the sight of the two often engaged in heated arguments or intense sparring matches, couldn't help but notice the change in their dynamic.

"Have you noticed Grimmjow and Ichigo lately?" Renji whispered to Rukia as they watched the pair pass by.

Rukia glanced over at Grimmjow and Ichigo, who were now engrossed in a quiet conversation as they headed to their next class. "Yeah, they haven't been fighting at all. It's kinda weird."

Renji nodded thoughtfully. "Remember how they used to argue about everything? And that time Grimmjow broke Ichigo's favorite bat during that stupid bet?"

"Yeah, or when Ichigo challenged Grimmjow to that ridiculous eating contest," Rukia added with a chuckle. "Those were the days."

"But now..." Renji trailed off, watching as Grimmjow placed a supportive hand on Ichigo's shoulder, a rare smile crossing his usually stoic face.

"They seem different," Rukia finished, her gaze softening. "Happier, maybe?"

Their friends exchanged puzzled glances, unsure of what had changed between Grimmjow and Ichigo. Yet, despite their curiosity, there was an unspoken agreement among them not to pry too much. Grimmjow and Ichigo's relationship had always been a tumultuous one, full of ups and downs that often spilled over into their social circle. But now, seeing them together without the constant bickering, there was a sense of peace that none of them wanted to disrupt.

"I guess as long as they're happy," Renji said finally, breaking the silence.

Rukia nodded in agreement. "Yeah."

As Grimmjow and Ichigo disappeared around the corner, their friends watched them go with a combination of bemusem*nt and quiet support. Whatever had shifted between the two, it was clear that Grimmjow and Ichigo had found a new rhythm in their relationship—one that didn't revolve around conflict but instead, seemed to thrive on understanding and companionship.

And so, in the halls of Karakura High, where gossip often spread like wildfire, Grimmjow and Ichigo's newfound harmony became a quiet anomaly that their peers accepted with a shrug and a smile. As long as the tension had dissipated, replaced by a sense of mutual respect and affection, their friends were content to let Grimmjow and Ichigo carve out their own path, one free from the need for constant drama and discord.

And I don't know what I'm crying for

Grimmjow and Ichigo sat on the rooftop of their school, the late afternoon sun casting long shadows across the concrete. It was one of the rare moments they had alone together, away from the prying eyes of their classmates. Grimmjow had been unusually quiet, and Ichigo noticed.

"What's on your mind?" Ichigo asked, nudging Grimmjow with his shoulder.

Grimmjow took a deep breath, looking out at the horizon. "I need to tell you something," he began, his voice uncharacteristically soft. "It's about Shirosaki."

Ichigo frowned, unfamiliar with the name. "Who's Shirosaki?"

Grimmjow pulled out his wallet and took out a worn photograph. He handed it to Ichigo, who studied it carefully. The picture showed two boys, both with mischievous grins, arms slung around each other’s shoulders. One of them was unmistakably Grimmjow, a few years younger. The other boy had striking white hair and pale skin, his eyes sharp and full of life.

"That's Shiro," Grimmjow said, his voice tinged with a mixture of fondness and sorrow. "We were best friends. More like brothers, really."

Ichigo glanced from the photo to Grimmjow, sensing the depth of emotion in his words. "What happened to him?"

"He died," Grimmjow said bluntly, his eyes hardening as he spoke. "Cancer. It took him away the year I moved here. One minute he was there, full of life, and the next he was gone."

Ichigo felt a pang of sympathy, but he remained silent, waiting for Grimmjow to continue.

"When I first saw you, I thought I was seeing a ghost," Grimmjow admitted, his gaze locking onto Ichigo's. "You look so much like him, it was like Shiro was taunting me from the grave. I was angry, confused. It messed with my head."

Ichigo's eyes widened as he looked back at the photo. The resemblance was undeniable. He could see why Grimmjow had been so shaken. "I... I had no idea," he said softly.

Grimmjow shook his head, a bitter smile on his lips. "How could you? I never told anyone about Shiro. It was too painful. But seeing you every day, it brought everything back. The memories, the loss, the anger."

Ichigo reached out and placed a hand on Grimmjow's arm, his touch gentle. "I'm sorry, Grimm. I can't imagine what that must have been like for you."

Grimmjow looked down at Ichigo's hand, then back up at his face. "At first, I hated you for it," he confessed. "I thought it was some cruel joke. But then I got to know you, and I realized you’re not Shiro. You’re you. And you’re someone I... care about."

Ichigo's heart ached at the vulnerability in Grimmjow's eyes. "Thank you for telling me," he said, his voice sincere. "I’m glad you did."

Grimmjow nodded, the tension in his shoulders easing slightly. "I just needed you to know. Shiro was important to me, but you are too. And I don’t want his memory to come between us."

Ichigo squeezed Grimmjow's arm reassuringly. Grimmjow managed a genuine smile, his usual bravado softened by the moment.

As they sat there, side by side, the photograph between them, Grimmjow felt a sense of peace he hadn’t known in years. He had finally shared his past, and in doing so, he felt a weight lift from his shoulders. With Ichigo by his side, he knew he could face whatever the future held.

Grimmjow's room was dimly lit by the setting sun filtering through the blinds. The two boys lounged on the bed, their legs tangled together. Grimmjow was flipping through a manga, while Ichigo lay beside him, staring up at the ceiling.

"Grimm, can I tell you something?" Ichigo's voice was quiet, almost hesitant.

Grimmjow glanced at him, sensing the shift in Ichigo's mood. He set the manga aside and turned to face his boyfriend. "Yeah, sure. What's up?"

Ichigo took a deep breath, gathering his thoughts. "It's about my mom. I've never really talked about her with anyone."

Grimmjow nodded, giving Ichigo his full attention. He knew this was something important, something that had been weighing on Ichigo for a long time.

"We were really close," Ichigo began, his voice tinged with a mixture of fondness and sadness. "She was the kind of person who lit up a room just by being in it. Always so full of life and love. I looked up to her more than anyone."

Grimmjow listened silently, his expression softening as he watched the emotions play across Ichigo's face.

"She died in a car accident when I was nine," Ichigo continued, his voice trembling slightly. "We were together when it happened. She was driving us house, it was raining, and... it just happened so fast. One moment, we were talking and laughing, and the next, there was this blinding light, and then... nothing."

Ichigo's eyes grew distant as he recalled the memory, his hands clenching the fabric of the bedspread. "I survived, but she didn't. And ever since then, I've felt this crushing guilt. Like, why did I get to live when she didn't? What could I have done differently?"

Grimmjow's heart ached for Ichigo. He reached out, gently placing a hand on Ichigo's shoulder. "Ichigo, it wasn't your fault. You were just a kid. There's nothing you could've done to change what happened."

"I know that," Ichigo said, his voice barely above a whisper. "But it doesn't stop the guilt. I keep thinking about all the things she missed out on. She won't see me graduate, or get a job, or... or anything."

Grimmjow's grip tightened slightly, his own frustration bubbling up. Not at Ichigo, but at the unfairness of it all. "Hey, listen to me," he said, his voice firm yet gentle. "Your mom wouldn't want you to carry that guilt around. She'd want you to live your life, to be happy. And that means letting go of the things you can't change."

Ichigo looked at him, his eyes glistening with unshed tears. "It's just hard, Grimm. It's so damn hard."

Grimmjow pulled Ichigo into a tight embrace, holding him close. "I know it is. But you don't have to go through it alone. I'm here.”

Ichigo nodded against Grimmjow's chest, finally allowing himself to cry. The weight of his guilt began to lift, if only a little, knowing he had someone who understood and cared.

“I’m not much, but I’m something, right?” Ichigo found himself simultaneously laughing and crying at his silly joke. This only encouraged the orangette to wrap his arms around the taller blunette’s neck tightly.

They stayed like that for a long time, wrapped up in each other's arms, the room filled with the quiet sound of Ichigo's sobs. And for the first time in years, Ichigo felt a sense of peace, knowing that with Grimmjow by his side, he could face the pain and start to heal.

I don't think I could love you more

The teens experienced what every other teenage boy did, hormones included. They did do quite a bit of exploring with one another.

Nips and kisses along one anothers jaws, neck, collar
everywhere honestly. Angry looking hickeys between inner thighs. Toe curling blowj*bs as they practiced on each other. It was all new to them.

One night Grimmjow and Ichigo were sprawled out on Grimmjow's bed, the dim glow of the TV casting flickering shadows across the room. A movie played on the screen, but neither of them was paying much attention. Grimmjow's arm was draped casually over Ichigo's shoulders, and Ichigo's head rested against his chest.

As the movie progressed, the space between them seemed to shrink. Grimmjow shifted slightly, his fingers brushing against Ichigo's arm, sending a shiver down Ichigo's spine. He glanced up at Grimmjow, their eyes locking for a moment before Ichigo leaned in, pressing his lips to Grimmjow's in a tentative kiss.

Grimmjow responded immediately, his hand moving to cup the back of Ichigo's head, deepening the kiss. There was a hunger in the way their lips moved together, a mix of nervousness and excitement that neither had felt before. The movie became an afterthought as the intensity between them grew.

Ichigo's hands found their way to Grimmjow's shoulders, gripping tightly as their kiss became more fervent. Grimmjow gently pushed Ichigo back onto the bed, hovering over him, their breaths mingling. "You sure?" Grimmjow asked, his voice rough with desire but laced with concern.

Ichigo nodded, his eyes dark with lust. "I want this. I wany you, Grimm."

That was all the encouragement Grimmjow needed. He kissed Ichigo again, this time with more urgency, their bodies pressing together. Ichigo's hands roamed over Grimmjow's back, feeling the muscles tense and relax under his touch. Grimmjow's kisses trailed down Ichigo's neck, eliciting soft gasps from the orange-haired boy.

Clothes were shed with increasing impatience, each piece falling to the floor and forgotten. Skin met skin, and the heat between them was almost unbearable. Grimmjow's touch was both gentle and firm, exploring Ichigo's body with reverence and desire. Ichigo responded eagerly, his own hands mapping out the contours of Grimmjow's form.

They moved together with a natural rhythm, their breaths becoming ragged as they lost themselves in the moment. There was an unspoken understanding between them, a connection that transcended words. It was their first time, and every touch, every kiss, felt electric.

Grimmjow paused, looking down at Ichigo with a question in his eyes. Ichigo gave a reassuring nod, and Grimmjow proceeded with care, ensuring that every move was as comfortable and pleasurable for Ichigo as possible. Their bodies intertwined, and the world outside ceased to exist.

Grimmjow’s hands connected with Ichigo’s at the head of the blunette's bed as their lips made contact. They wanted to taste every bit of one another.

He groaned into Ichigo’s ear as he f*cked into Ichigo’s willing body. Grimmjow had Ichigo’s legs spread wide to either side, thrusting deeper every time the orangette voiced his pleasure with a moan. Ichigo left crescent shapes along Grimmjow’s back and shoulders. The orangette felt like he’d be driven to madness if he didn’t cling onto the larger teen.

“G-Grimm”, Ichigo moaned. He was tightening around Grimmjow’s length, and it was causing the blunette to close his eyes in pleasure. Grimmjow had moved those lithe, long legs to be settled around his waist, and they were locked. This helped him drive himself even deeper into Ichigo’s prostate. He knew he struck gold when Ichigo’s voice got caught in his throat. Grimmjow groaned against said throat, “f*ck, Ichi.”

Their movements were becoming urgent, a desperate need to be as close as possible. Grimmjow's breath was hot against Ichigo's skin, sending shivers down his spine. He paused, his lips hovering over Ichigo's neck.

In a swift, decisive move, Grimmjow bit down gently on Ichigo's neck. The sensation sent jolts of pleasure and pain through the orangette’s body, and he gasped, his fingers digging into Grimmjow's back. The bite was possessive, marking Ichigo as his, a silent declaration of their companionship.

Ichigo's breath hitched, and he tilted his head to give Grimmjow better access. Grimmjow's tongue soothed the bite, his lips pressing soft kisses to the reddened skin. The intimacy of the moment, the raw emotion, and the physical connection made their hearts race in unison.

The whimpers coming from the smaller teen only drove the blunette closer to his release.

Grimmjow pulled back slightly, his eyes meeting Ichigo's. There was a fierce intensity in his gaze, a silent promise that Ichigo was his and his alone. Without a word, he leaned in again, capturing Ichigo's lips in a passionate kiss, sealing their connection as their bodies moved together in perfect harmony.

Not long after they came. Basking in their org*sm, Grimmjow fell beside Ichigo. The orangette took the opportunity to wrap his long arms around the other’s neck, and they stayed like that, just panting and smiling at one another with their eyes.

It might not be long, but baby, I

I'll love you 'til the day that I die

Ichigo sat at the edge of his bed. The quiet hum of the town outside was a distant murmur, barely registering in his mind as he gazed absently at the floor. His thoughts were a jumbled mess, and he couldn't quite understand the emotions swirling inside him.

He glanced over at a framed photo on his nightstand—a picture of him and Grimmjow, taken at a park a few months ago. They were both laughing, arms wrapped around each other's shoulders, eyes bright with happiness. A small smile tugged at Ichigo's lips, but it was quickly overtaken by an unexpected wave of emotion.

Tears began to well up in his eyes, and before he knew it, they were spilling down his cheeks. Ichigo wiped at them furiously, frustrated with himself for crying without even knowing why. He felt a tightness in his chest, a mixture of overwhelming love and a strange, aching sorrow he couldn't quite place.

Grimmjow walked in, prepared to work on their science project. He paused when he saw Ichigo, concern immediately replacing his usual confident demeanor. "Hey, what's going on?"

Ichigo shook his head, unable to find the words to explain. "I don't know, Grimm. I just... I don't know."

Grimmjow set the groceries down and crossed the room in a few quick strides, pulling Ichigo into his arms. "Hey, it's okay. Whatever it is, talk to me, Ichi."

Ichigo buried his face in Grimmjow's chest, the tears coming faster now. He felt so safe, so loved, but also so incredibly vulnerable. "I just... I love you so much, Grimm. It hurts."

Grimmjow held him tighter, stroking his hair gently. "I love you too, Ichi. More than anything." And he meant it. He could admit that in his entire seventeen years of life he had never felt a love quite like what felt for Ichigo.

Ichigo's sobs slowly subsided, the warmth and comfort of Grimmjow's embrace grounding him. He took a shaky breath, trying to steady himself. "I don't understand why I'm crying. I'm happy with you, I really am. It's just... sometimes it's like my heart can't hold it all in."

Grimmjow kissed the top of Ichigo's head, his voice soft. “It just means you care a lot, and there's nothing wrong with that."

Ichigo nodded, the tightness in his chest easing slightly. He looked up at Grimmjow, his eyes still shining with tears but also with gratitude and love.

Grimmjow smiled, wiping away the remaining tears from Ichigo's cheeks. "We're in this together, remember? We’ve never felt this sh*t before."

They sat there in each other's arms, the room filled with a comfortable silence. Ichigo still didn't fully understand why he had been crying, but with Grimmjow’s reassurance he like everything was goint to be okay.

'Til the day that I die
'Til the light leaves my eyes
'Til the day that I die

Ichigo made his way to Grimmjow’s house, the familiar route bringing a sense of comfort despite the cool evening air. They had been together for a while now. Ichigo knocked on the door, but there was no answer. He knew Grimmjow’s parents were often out or indifferent to who came by, so he let himself in, making his way to Grimmjow’s room.

He paused at the slightly ajar door, hearing the faint rustle of paper. Pushing it open, Ichigo saw Grimmjow sitting on the floor, a serious expression on his face as he counted a pile of money. The sight was so unexpected that Ichigo just stood there for a moment, trying to process what he was seeing.

“Grimm?” Ichigo called softly, his voice filled with confusion.

Grimmjow looked up, a momentary flicker of surprise crossing his face before he quickly masked it with his usual nonchalant expression. "Oh, hey, Ichigo. Didn't hear you come in."

Ichigo hesitated, his eyes flicking to the money. "What's all this?"

Grimmjow sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I'm saving up to leave Karakura after we graduate."

Ichigo felt a sting of hurt and betrayal. "You were planning this without telling me?"

Grimmjow's expression softened, a rare occurrence. "I wasn't sure how to bring it up. I didn't want to drag you into my plans without thinking it through."

Ichigo's stubborn nature flared up. He sat down beside Grimmjow, crossing his arms defiantly. "Well, now you’ve told me. And I’m leaving with you."

Internally, Grimmjow didn’t like the idea of Ichigo changing his plans for him. He wanted to protect Ichigo from the uncertainty of his future. He forced himself to be blunt. "Ichigo, this is a me thing."

Ichigo's eyes narrowed. "You think you can just leave without me? I’m not letting you go alone. I'll cut back on the chocolate and manga. Save more of my wages”. Ichigo had an after school job teaching kids karate at Uncle Kisuke's dojo.

Grimmjow’s sarcastic and sad*stic side surfaced as a defense mechanism. He smirked, his tone laced with mockery. "You really think you can handle not buying your precious manga? That’s a sight I’d like to see."

Ichigo’s temper flared, his strong-willed nature coming to the fore. "I can handle it just fine, asshole. You’re not getting rid of me that easily."

Despite his sarcastic demeanor, Grimmjow felt a warmth in his chest. Ichigo’s determination and loyalty were what made him special. He tried to hide his sadness with a snarky comment. "Fine. But don’t come crying to me when you start missing your chocolate."

Ichigo rolled his eyes, a hint of a smile tugging at his lips. "I won’t. And you better not try to leave without me."

Grimmjow sighed, finally relenting. "Alright, fine. We’ll do this together. Just don’t expect me to go easy on you."

Ichigo grinned, his stubbornness matching Grimmjow’s sarcasm. "Wouldn’t have it any other way."

As they sat there, surrounded by the pile of money and their shared determination, Grimmjow felt a glimmer of hope.

Maybe he didn’t have to worry about only being happy now. Maybe, just maybe his happiness would remain even after graduation.

“Baka”, the orangette huffed. “Still can’t believe you weren’t gon-.” Ichigo didn’t get to finish his complaint. Grimmjow had swiftly laced his hand’s fingers in the back of his orange hair and connected their lips, causing the smaller teen to lose his train of thought. He liked the feeling kissing the blunette gave him.

“Shut up already, will you?” Grimmjow’s words had no bite to them as ran a thumb over one of Ichigo’s blushing cheeks.

As the months passed by, Grimmjow finally knew what he wanted to do once he left town. He wanted to go on a year-long trip around the country to figure out what he wanted out of life. He and Ichigo would sit down from time to time and discuss all the things they’d do on their year-long road trip. Their planning sessions were filled with excitement and bickering, both of their strong-willed personalities clashing and meshing in equal measure.

One evening, they were sitting on the floor of Ichigo’s room, a map of Japan between them, scattered with scribbled notes and circled destinations.

“We’re definitely hitting up Osaka first,” Grimmjow declared, pointing at the map.

Ichigo frowned, crossing his arms. “Don’t be silly. I thought we agreed to spend at least a four days in each town and city before getting back on the road.”

“I got carried away,” Grimmjow said with a smirk, his tone dripping with sarcasm, “Osaka has the best street food, and I was thinking about their takoyaki.”

Ichigo rolled his eyes but couldn’t suppress a grin. “I have to remind myself that you’re not dumb.”

“You chose me so what does that say about you?,” Grimmjow replied, his eyes glinting with amusem*nt.

Ichigo suddenly straddled Grimmjow, playfully pinning him down. “You know, you’re pretty cute when you’re being a smart ass,” he teased.

Grimmjow raised an eyebrow, his hands resting on Ichigo’s hips. “Cute, huh? You sure you’re talking about me?”

Ichigo leaned down, capturing Grimmjow’s lips in a kiss. It started soft but quickly turned more passionate, their usual intensity spilling over into this intimate moment.

Grimmjow broke the kiss, his bluntness coming through even now. “You’re such a pain in the ass, Kurosaki.”

Ichigo chuckled, brushing a strand of blue hair away from Grimmjow’s face. “Takes one to know one.”

Grimmjow’s hands tightened on Ichigo’s hips, pulling him closer. “I guess that’s why we work.”

Ichigo’s eyes softened, his usual stubbornness giving way to a rare moment of vulnerability. “Yeah, it is.” He kissed Grimmjow again, more tenderly this time. “We’re going to make this road trip amazing.”

Grimmjow’s lips curved into a rare, genuine smile. “Damn right we are. And if you get on my nerves too much, I’ll just leave you at the next stop.”

Ichigo laughed, playfully swatting Grimmjow’s shoulder. “You wish. You’d miss me too much.”

“Maybe,” Grimmjow conceded, his tone more serious. “But I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

They stayed like that for a while, wrapped up in each other.

I want you to see, hm
How you look to me, hm
You wouldn't believe if I told ya
You would keep the compliments I throw ya

Grimmjow and Ichigo laid on the orangette’s bed face to face, one arm draped over Ichigo's waist as they cuddled close. The room was dimly lit by the soft glow of a bedside lamp, casting a warm light over their entwined forms. Grimmjow's rough-around-the-edges demeanor softened slightly in these private moments, but a hint of his usual snark remained.

Ichigo, nestled against Grimmjow's chest, sighed contentedly. "I still don't get what you see in me, Grimm."

Grimmjow huffed in mild frustration, rolling his eyes. "Seriously, Kurosaki. You couldn’t be more clueless."

Ichigo looked up, confusion evident in his eyes. "What do you mean?"

Grimmjow shifted, propping himself up on one elbow to look directly at Ichigo. "You really don't see it, do you?”

Ichigo looked at Grimmjow sheepishly, his cheeks turning a light shade of pink. He bit his lip, feeling embarrassed and confused at Grimmjow's intense gaze and blunt words.

“You're a f*cking looker and you're a decent enough person. If you could see yourself through my eyes, you'd get it."

Ichigo blushed even harder, averting his gaze. "I'm just... me."

"Yeah, you are just 'you'," Grimmjow said, his tone both affectionate and exasperated. "And 'just you' happens to be a sexpot and great person, okay?"

Ichigo shook his head, still unconvinced. "I don't know about that. And I'm not a woman, so f*ck off with the sexpot comment."

Grimmjow let out a soft growl of frustration before leaning in closer. "You are seriously one of the densest people I've ever met."

Before Ichigo could respond, Grimmjow captured his lips in a fierce, tender kiss. It was a kiss that spoke volumes, conveying all the admiration and love Grimmjow felt but couldn't always put into words. Ichigo's initial surprise melted into acceptance, his arms wrapping around Grimmjow's neck to pull him closer.

When they finally broke apart, both slightly breathless, Grimmjow rested his forehead against Ichigo's. "Believe me now?"

Ichigo smiled shyly, his cheeks still flushed. "Maybe a little."

Grimmjow smirked, his frustration giving way to a softer emotion. "Good."

They settled back into their comfortable embrace, the warmth of each other's presence enough to dispel any lingering doubts. In Grimmjow's arms, Ichigo began to believe that maybe, just maybe, he was as special as Grimmjow said he was.

But you're so full of sh*t, uh
Tell me it's a bit, oh
Say you don't see it, your mind's polluted
Say you wanna quit, don't be stupid

Grimmjow and Ichigo stood in Ichigo's uncle Kisuke’s dojo, the tension between them was so thick it could be cut with a knife. The air was thick with unspoken words and the frustration of their argument. Grimmjow's rough demeanor clashed with Ichigo's determined stance, neither willing to back down.

"You never tell me anything, Grimm!" Ichigo exclaimed, his voice rising in frustration. "How am I supposed to know what you're thinking if you don't talk to me?"

Grimmjow clenched his fists, his temper flaring. "I do talk to you! It's not my fault you don't get it!"

Ichigo's eyes flashed with anger. "You're so full of crap, Grimm! Tell me it's an act!"

Grimmjow's expression hardened, his usual snarky facade cracking. "What the hell are you talking about, Ichigo?"

"You don’t know how to deal with certain things. We both don’t," Ichigo shot back, stepping closer. "But thowing in the towel just cause you’re frustrated, is stupid!"

Grimmjow's jaw tightened, his frustration boiling over. "I never said that! You're the one putting words in my mouth!"

"Then what do you want, Grimm?" Ichigo demanded, his voice breaking slightly. "Because I can't keep guessing!"

Grimmjow's anger faltered for a moment, replaced by a flicker of vulnerability. He struggled to find the right words, his poor communication skills betraying him once again. "I... I just want us to be okay, alright?"

Ichigo's eyes softened, but the hurt remained. "Then why can't you just say that? Why do you always have to make things so difficult?"

Grimmjow looked away, the weight of his own inadequacies pressing down on him. "I don't know, Ichigo. I just... I'm not good at this stuff."

Ichigo sighed, running a hand through his hair. "You don't have to be perfect, Grimm. You just have to try. I need to know that you're in this with me."

Grimmjow's gaze returned to Ichigo, the sincerity in his eyes clear. "I am in this with you. I just... I don't know how to show it sometimes."

Ichigo stepped closer, reaching out to take Grimmjow's hand. "Then let me help you. We can figure it out together, but you have to meet me halfway."

Grimmjow nodded slowly, squeezing Ichigo's hand. "I'll try."

The tension began to dissipate, replaced by a tentative understanding.

“Now”, Ichigo said before sighing and taking his stance. “Are we sparring or what?”

Grimmjow smirked, the snark returning to his voice. "You think you can handle me, Kurosaki?"

Ichigo grinned, the challenge sparking in his eyes. "Any day."

And I don't know what I'm crying for

The party was in full swing, the room buzzing with music and laughter. Ichigo and Grimmjow stood in a corner, their voices a low, tense murmur that contrasted sharply with the jovial atmosphere around them.

"I can't believe you're letting him flirt with you like that," Grimmjow hissed, his blue eyes blazing with anger. He crossed his arms, his posture rigid.

Ichigo frowned, his frustration evident. "I wasn't letting him do anything, Grimm. Sosuke was just being friendly."

Grimmjow's jaw clenched. "Friendly? He was all over you, Ichigo. Everyone could see it."

Ichigo rolled his eyes, trying to keep his cool. "You're overreacting. He put his hand on my shoulder, and we talked. That's it."

"Overreacting?" Grimmjow's voice rose, drawing a few curious glances from nearby partygoers. "That guy is always looking for an opportunity to get close to you, and you don't even see it!"

Ichigo's own temper began to flare. "And what if I don't? What does it matter? I'm with you, not him."

Grimmjow took a step closer, his anger barely contained. "It matters because it feels like you don't care how it makes me feel. Do you even care?"

"Of course I care!" Ichigo shot back, his eyes flashing. "But you need to trust me. I'm not going to do anything with Sosuke or anyone else."

"Trust you?" Grimmjow scoffed. "It's hard to trust you when you don't even see what's happening right in front of you."

Ichigo threw his hands up in exasperation. "I'm not a mind reader, Grimmjow! If you have a problem, talk to me instead of blowing up like this."

Grimmjow's face hardened, his fists clenching at his sides. "Maybe I wouldn't have to blow up if you actually listened for once."

Without another word, Grimmjow turned on his heel and stormed out of the room, shoving past partygoers as he went. Ichigo watched him leave, a mixture of anger and hurt churning inside him. He wanted to chase after Grimmjow, to make things right, but his own pride held him back.

He stood there for a moment, feeling the weight of their argument pressing down on him. He knew Grimmjow's jealousy came from a place of love and fear, but it didn't make the fight any less painful. With a heavy sigh, Ichigo leaned against the wall, staring at the door through which Grimmjow had disappeared, wondering how things had escalated so quickly and what it would take to fix the rift between them.

The night was calm, the streets empty and bathed in the soft glow of streetlights as Ichigo made his way to Grimmjow's house. The argument at the party replayed in his mind, each word and hurtful glare a reminder of the rift between them. He had spent the past few hours wrestling with his pride and anger, but the need to make things right had finally won out.

As he approached Grimmjow's house, he hesitated for a moment, then took a deep breath and knocked on the door. After a few tense moments, the door opened, revealing Grimmjow. His expression was guarded, his blue eyes wary.

"What do you want?" Grimmjow's voice was flat, but there was a hint of vulnerability beneath the tough exterior.

Ichigo swallowed his pride and met Grimmjow's gaze. "Can we talk?"

Grimmjow studied him for a moment, then stepped aside to let him in. They walked to Grimmjow's room in silence, the tension between them palpable. Once inside, Ichigo closed the door and turned to face Grimmjow.

"I'm sorry," Ichigo began, his voice earnest. "I didn't mean to dismiss your feelings. I should have been more understanding."

Grimmjow crossed his arms, his expression softening slightly. "It's not just about Sosuke. It's about how it made me feel like you didn't care."

Ichigo took a step closer, his eyes pleading. "I do care, Grimmjow. More than anything. I just... I guess I didn't realize how much it was affecting you. I should have paid more attention."

Grimmjow's shoulders relaxed a bit, but he still looked conflicted. "I don't want to be the jealous boyfriend, but it just... it gets to me sometimes."

Ichigo reached out and took Grimmjow's hand, squeezing it gently. "I get it. And I'll try to be more aware. Just... talk to me next time, okay? Don't bottle it up until it explodes."

Grimmjow sighed, the last of his anger melting away. He pulled Ichigo into a hug, burying his face in Ichigo's shoulder. "I'm sorry too. I shouldn't have stormed out like that."

Ichigo hugged him back, feeling the tension between them wash away. Grimmjow pulled back just enough to look Ichigo in the eyes.

Ichigo leaned up and pressed his lips to Grimmjow's in a gentle kiss, sealing their reconciliation. They stood there for a moment, just holding each other, the closeness reaffirming their bond.

I don't think I could love you more

High school graduation finally came around, and the entire grade was buzzing with excitement. The long-awaited day had arrived, and the atmosphere was electric with the thrill of newfound freedom and the promise of the future. That evening, the students gathered for a massive party to celebrate, and Ichigo and Grimmjow were right in the thick of it.

Byakuya, Rukia’s older brother, gave her permission to throw their grade’s graduation party at their home, and she didn’t dissappoint. Everyone was happy, with music blaring, laughter echoing, and drinks flowing freely. Ichigo and Grimmjow were having a good time, surrounded by friends and peers who had been with them through the highs and lows of high school. They danced, joked around, and clinked glasses in celebration of their accomplishments.

Every now and then, amidst the revelry, Grimmjow would pull Ichigo close, their lips meeting in a heated kiss. The connection between them was undeniable, a magnetic pull that drew them together even in the midst of the crowd. They would break apart, breathless and grinning, before diving back into the festivities.

As the night wore on, the party showed no signs of slowing down. Ichigo and Grimmjow found themselves seated on a couch, surrounded by others who were equally tipsy and exuberant. They shared stories and laughter, reminiscing about their high school days and dreaming about the future.

Ichigo leaned against Grimmjow, his cheeks flushed from both the alcohol and the warmth of the moment. "This is amazing," he slurred slightly, his eyes bright with happiness. "We did it, Grimm."

Grimmjow chuckled, wrapping an arm around Ichigo's shoulders. "Yeah, we did. Hell of a ride, huh?"

Ichigo nodded, a content smile playing on his lips. "Yeah... wouldn't have it any other way."

As the party began to wind down, Grimmjow noticed Ichigo getting sleepier and more unsteady. He gently helped him to his feet, supporting him as they made their way to the door. "Come on, Ichigo. Let's get you home."

Ichigo leaned heavily on Grimmjow, his steps unsteady but his spirits high. "Thanks, Grimm," he mumbled, his words slightly slurred. "You're the best."

Grimmjow smirked, tightening his grip on Ichigo to keep him from stumbling. "I know, I know. Let's just get you home in one piece, okay?"

Grimmjow drove them back to the orangette’s house in a comfortable silence.

When they finally reached Ichigo's house, the orangette fumbled with the keys, giggling as he tried to unlock the door. The house was dark and quiet, the perfect contrast to the noisy celebration they had left behind. They crept inside, shushing each other with whispered chuckles as they made their way up to Ichigo's room.

Once inside, the door clicked shut behind them, and they stood there for a moment, breathing heavily and grinning at each other. The air was charged with a mix of alcohol and anticipation, their eyes reflecting the dim light from the street outside.

"Shhh," Ichigo whispered, his finger pressed against Grimmjow's lips. "We have to be quiet."

Grimmjow's eyes sparkled with mischief as he leaned in, capturing Ichigo's lips in a hungry kiss. They stumbled towards the bed, their movements clumsy but filled with urgency. Their laughter was muffled against each other's mouths, the taste of alcohol mingling with their kisses.

They tumbled onto the bed, their hands fumbling with buttons and zippers. Ichigo's shirt was the first to go, quickly followed by Grimmjow's. The cool air sent a shiver down their spines, but the heat between them quickly overshadowed it.

Grimmjow's hands roamed over Ichigo's body, his touch rough but filled with affection. Ichigo arched into his touch, his breath hitching as Grimmjow's lips trailed down his neck. They tried to stifle their laughter, the absurdity of the situation hitting them in waves.

"Quiet, remember?" Ichigo breathed, his fingers tangling in Grimmjow's hair.

Grimmjow chuckled, his breath warm against Ichigo's skin. "I'm trying, but you're not making it easy."

Their bodies moved together, the alcohol dulling their inhibitions but heightening their senses. They explored each other with tenderness, their quiet moans and gasps filling the room. Each touch, each kiss was a silent promise, a testament to the love and desire they felt for each other.

As they reached the peak of their passion, they clung to each other, their movements becoming more frantic. Their laughter turned into breathless low moans, the need to stay quiet adding an edge to their encounter. When they finally came down from their high, they lay there in the afterglow, their bodies tangled together, their breathing slowly returning to normal.

Ichigo rested his head on Grimmjow's chest, a content smile playing on his lips. "That was... intense."

Grimmjow chuckled softly, his fingers tracing lazy patterns on Ichigo's back. "Yeah, it was."

They shared a quiet moment, the weight of their emotions settling over them.

Grimmjow tightened his hold on Ichigo, pressing a soft kiss to his forehead.

Grimmjow lay in bed, propped up on one elbow, silently watching Ichigo sleep. The moonlight filtered through the curtains, casting a soft glow over Ichigo's peaceful face. The orange-haired teen looked serene, his chest rising and falling with each breath. Grimmjow felt a surge of affection and happiness, knowing how much Ichigo meant to him.

Ichigo had brought so much light into his life, chasing away the darkness that had threatened to consume him for so long. His unwavering support, his infectious laughter, his determined spirit
they had all become integral parts of Grimmjow's world. But as he watched Ichigo, Grimmjow couldn't shake the nagging thought that his boyfriend was too good for him. Ichigo deserved the world, and Grimmjow felt like he could only give him a fraction of what he truly deserved.

Ichigo had dreams, big dreams of attending university and making something of himself. They had talked about leaving Karakura together, starting fresh in a new place. But the more Grimmjow thought about it, the more he realized that he didn't want Ichigo to give up his dreams for him. Ichigo was meant for greater things, and Grimmjow didn't want to be the one to hold him back.

He reached out, gently brushing a strand of hair from Ichigo's forehead. The touch was tender, filled with the love and admiration he felt for the sleeping boy. A lump formed in Grimmjow's throat as he made the painful decision to leave without saying goodbye. It would be better this way, he told himself. Better for Ichigo to pursue his dreams without the burden of Grimmjow's uncertain future weighing him down.

Grimmjow leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to Ichigo's forehead, lingering for a moment as he memorized every detail of his boyfriend's face. The ache in his chest grew stronger, but he knew it was the right thing to do. He couldn't be the reason Ichigo sacrificed his dreams.

Might not be long, but baby, I

Ichigo was in high spirits as he dialed Grimmjow's number, a smile spreading across his face. They were due to leave in a few days and he couldn’t bottle up his excitement anymore. The phone rang several times, but there was no answer. Ichigo frowned, but didn't think too much of it. Grimmjow was probably busy or out, and he'd call back soon enough.

After a few hours with still no word from Grimmjow, Ichigo's concern began to grow. He sent a few texts, all of which went unanswered. By midday, the worry gnawing at him had become too much to ignore. Deciding to go over to Grimmjow's house, he grabbed his jacket and headed out, his mind racing with possible reasons for Grimmjow's silence.

When Ichigo arrived at Grimmjow's house, he knocked on the door and waited, shifting anxiously from foot to foot. Grimmjow's father opened the door, looking surprised to see him.

"Hi, Mr. Jaegerjaquez. Is Grimmjow home?" Ichigo asked, trying to keep his voice steady.

Grimmjow's father hesitated for a moment before shaking his head. "I'm sorry, Ichigo. Grimmjow left town this morning."

The words hit Ichigo like a punch to the gut. "He... he left? Without telling me?"

"I'm afraid so," Mr. Jaegerjaquez said, his expression apologetic. "He didn't say much, just that he needed to go. I assumed you’d changed your mind."

Ichigo felt a wave of disbelief wash over him. How could Grimmjow just leave without a word?

"Did he say why?" Ichigo asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

"No, he didn't. I'm really sorry, Ichigo."

Ichigo nodded numbly, his mind struggling to process the information. He thanked Grimmjow's father and turned to leave, his heart heavy. As he walked away, the reality of the situation began to sink in. Grimmjow was gone.

The plans they had made, the dreams they had shared
it all felt like a cruel joke now. Ichigo's steps grew slower as the weight of the betrayal settled over him. He had trusted Grimmjow, loved him, and believed they were in this together. But now, he was left alone, the future they had envisioned shattered.

By the time Ichigo reached home, the initial shock had given way to a deep, aching sadness. He sat on his bed, staring at his phone, hoping against hope that Grimmjow would call or text, offering some explanation. But as the hours passed and the silence persisted, Ichigo knew he had to face the painful truth. Grimmjow had left without him, and he had no idea if or when he would ever come back.

With a heavy heart, Ichigo lay down, staring up at the ceiling. Tears welled up in his eyes as the memories of their time together flooded his mind. He had thought they were forever, but now, all he had were broken dreams and unanswered questions.

Don't wanna say goodbye

Grimmjow tossed and turned in his sleep, his mind trapped in the throes of a nightmare. In his dream, he saw Ichigo standing on the edge of a cliff, the wind whipping through his orange hair, tears streaming down his face. Grimmjow tried to reach out to him, but no matter how fast he ran, he couldn't close the distance between them. Ichigo's cries echoed in his ears, filled with despair and heartbreak.

"Grimmjow, don't leave me!" Ichigo's voice was a haunting plea, filled with pain and fear. Grimmjow's heart pounded in his chest as he desperately stretched out his hand, but Ichigo's image began to fade, dissolving into the mist.

"No! Ichigo!" Grimmjow shouted, but his voice was swallowed by the void. He fell to his knees, the ground beneath him crumbling away, and he felt himself falling into an abyss of darkness and loneliness.

Grimmjow jolted awake, sweat pouring down his face, his heart racing. His eyes darted around the unfamiliar room, the cold reality crashing down on him. He was alone. The bed beside him was empty, the space where Ichigo should have been was void of his warmth and presence.

The memories flooded back, hitting him like a tidal wave. He had left Ichigo behind. They had made plans to leave together, to start a new life away from Karakura. But Grimmjow, in a moment of misguided selflessness and fear, had skipped town without saying goodbye. He had convinced himself it was for the best, that Ichigo deserved more than a life on the run with someone like him.

But now, in the quiet darkness of his room, all he felt was guilt and regret. He could still see Ichigo's face, the way his eyes sparkled with determination and love whenever they talked about their future. He remembered the way Ichigo had said, "I'll leave with you. I'll start saving up too. It's not like I can't get a degree online." Ichigo had been ready to give up everything to be with him, and Grimmjow had thrown it all away.

Grimmjow ran a hand through his hair, his fingers trembling. He felt a lump in his throat as the reality of his decision weighed heavily on him. He had left the one person who believed in him, who loved him unconditionally. The pain of that realization was almost too much to bear.

He had been away for six months by then, and nightmares about Ichigo plagued him quite often.

He buried his face in his hands, the tears he had been holding back finally breaking free. The tough facade he always wore cracked, revealing the vulnerable boy who had lost his best friend years ago, and now, his love. The guilt gnawed at him, a relentless reminder of what he had done.

"I’m so sorry, Ichigo," Grimmjow whispered into the empty room, his voice choked with emotion. "I thought I was doing the right thing... but I was wrong."

The silence that followed was deafening. The emptiness of the room mirrored the emptiness in his heart. Grimmjow knew he couldn't stay here, consumed by his guilt and regret. He had to find a way to make things right, to see Ichigo again, to explain why he had left, and to beg for his forgiveness.

Grimmjow stood at the front door of the Kurosaki household, his heart pounding in his chest. Taking a deep breath, he knocked on the door, hoping against hope that Ichigo would answer.

Instead, the door swung open to reveal Karin, her expression immediately darkening upon seeing him. "What the hell do you want, Grimmjow?" she spat, her eyes flashing with anger.

Grimmjow took a step back, momentarily taken aback by the intensity of her hostility. "I'm here to see Ichigo," he said, his voice steady despite the knot forming in his stomach.

Karin scoffed, crossing her arms over her chest. "After what you did? You think you can just waltz back here and everything will be fine? You're a real piece of work, you know that?"

Before Grimmjow could respond, Yuzu appeared behind her sister, tears streaming down her cheeks. "Karin, please," she whispered, her voice trembling. "Let him talk."

Karin shot her sister a sharp look. "Yuzu, he doesn't deserve to. He hurt Ichigo. Badly."

Grimmjow's heart sank at the sight of Yuzu's tears and Karin's unwavering anger. "I know I screwed up. I just need to talk to him, to make things right."

Karin's eyes narrowed, her anger simmering just below the surface. "Ichigo moved to Kyoto. Thanks to you. I hope you're happy."

Yuzu's sobs grew louder as she clung to Karin's arm, clearly torn between her compassion and her sister's protectiveness. "He said it was for college, but we knew it was because he couldn’t take it anymore," she managed to say through her tears.

Grimmjow felt a pang of guilt and regret, his heart aching at the thought of Ichigo leaving because of him. "Kyoto...," he murmured, the weight of the news settling heavily on his shoulders.

Karin took a step forward, her anger boiling over. "If you really care about him, you'll leave him alone," she said, her voice cold and cutting. "He's better off without you."

With that, she slammed the door shut, the sound echoing in the quiet street. Grimmjow stood there, the reality of his actions hitting him harder than ever. He had driven Ichigo away.

Birds of a feather, we should stick together, I know ('til the day that I die)
I said I'd never think I wasn't better alone ('til the light leaves my eyes)

Ichigo walked briskly down the busy street, his mind preoccupied with the errands he needed to run. The city had become a backdrop for his routine, a place where he had tried to build a new life after the pain of Grimmjow's sudden departure.

The orangette felt completely dejected by the entire ordeal. To keep the thoughts of the blunette at bay, Ichigo wholeheartedly threw himself into preparing for his university entrance exams. He’d even pushed himself to apply to various tertiary institutions around the country, to be anywhere that didn’t remind him of Grimmjow.

That’s how he lived his life from there on out, busying himself with whatever to keep his mind from wandering to all their past fist fights, that kiss that started everything, the companionship that budded from there on. It hurt to think of all the laughs, heart to hearts, and all the openning up they did.

It had been three years since that day, but the memories were still raw, lingering in the corners of his mind like shadows. "I'm sorry, Ichigo. Grimmjow left town this morning."

One day, while walking through the bustling streets of Tokyo, Ichigo's eyes caught a familiar figure. His heart skipped a beat. There, leaning against a wall with a cigarette between his lips, was Grimmjow. But this wasn't the 18-year-old Grimmjow Ichigo remembered. This Grimmjow was older, more rugged, and the air around him carried an undeniable aura of maturity.

Grimmjow had grown taller, his once slightly unruly hair now styled in a way that accentuated his sharp features. His blue eyes still held that fierce glint, but there was a depth to them now, a sense of experiences lived. He wore a leather jacket over a simple t-shirt, his jeans slightly worn, and boots that looked like they had seen a lot of miles.

Ichigo felt a mix of emotions—shock, anger, longing—all rushing through him at once. Without thinking, he walked straight up to Grimmjow. The blue-haired man looked up, and their eyes met. For a moment, time seemed to stand still.

“Grimmjow,” Ichigo said, his voice barely above a whisper.

Grimmjow's eyes widened in surprise. “Ichigo
”

Before Grimmjow could say anything else, Ichigo’s fist connected with his jaw. The punch sent Grimmjow staggering back a step, and Ichigo's knuckles stung from the impact.

“You bastard!” Ichigo shouted, his voice trembling with a mix of anger and relief. “You just left without a word!”

Grimmjow rubbed his jaw, wincing slightly but not retaliating. He looked at Ichigo, his expression a mixture of guilt and something else, something softer.

“Ichigo, I
”

But before Grimmjow could finish, Ichigo stepped forward and pulled him into a tight embrace. Grimmjow stiffened for a moment, then slowly wrapped his arms around Ichigo, holding him just as tightly. They stood there, in the middle of the busy pavement, oblivious to the world around them. Grimmjow breathed in deeply, the familiar scent of Ichigo's shampoo mixed with a hint of sweat filling his nostrils. The warmth of Ichigo's body against his own was overwhelming, stirring a mix of emotions he had tried to bury for so long. He closed his eyes for a moment, allowing himself to savor the feeling of Ichigo's arms wrapped tightly around him, the strength and determination evident in his grip. Ichigo's orange hair tickled his cheek, and Grimmjow couldn't help but notice how much he'd missed the sight of that fiery color, the way it framed Ichigo's face, fierce yet endearing. As he opened his eyes and looked down, he saw the familiar furrow in Ichigo's brow, the stubborn set of his jaw, and the slight quiver of his lips that spoke of the hurt and relief warring within him. Grimmjow's heart clenched, the weight of his actions pressing down on him. He tightened his hold on Ichigo, whispering a soft apology, his voice thick with regret and longing.

"I'm sorry, Ichi."

Ichigo buried his face in Grimmjow’s shoulder, his breath hitching. Grimmjow closed his eyes, resting his chin on top of Ichigo’s head.

They didn’t need to say much more. The way they held each other said everything—the regret, the pain of separation, the unspoken apologies, and the relief of being together again. For a moment, they were just two people finding solace in each other's arms, reconnecting the broken pieces of their past.

After their long embrace, Ichigo and Grimmjow reluctantly pulled away from each other. Ichigo took a deep breath, his eyes reflecting a mixture of lingering hurt and tentative hope.

"We need to talk," Ichigo said, his voice steady but with an edge of vulnerability.

Grimmjow nodded. "Yeah. Uh, there's a cafe around the corner. Let's go."

The two walked in silence, side by side but still processing the emotions coursing through them. They reached the cafe, a cozy little place with warm lighting and the comforting aroma of coffee and pastries. Grimmjow led the way, choosing a quiet corner booth where they could have some privacy.

As they sat down, the tension between them was palpable. Ichigo fidgeted with his cup, the hurt and hesitation clear in his eyes. Grimmjow looked at him, his usual bluntness softened by the weight of his regret.

"I'm sorry, Ichigo," Grimmjow began, his voice low and sincere. "Leaving like that... it was messed up. I thought it was for the best."

Ichigo's gaze hardened for a moment, his stubbornness flaring up. "You think? You just left without a word, Grimm. We had a plan. You didn't even give me a chance to understand your reasoning."

Grimmjow sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I know. I thought I was doing you a favor, not holding you back. But I see now that I was just running away."

Ichigo's eyes softened slightly, though the hurt was still there. "You should have trusted me enough to talk about it. We could have figured it out."

They sat in silence for a moment, the weight of their past mistakes hanging between them. Then, Ichigo sighed before he spoke up.

“I hope you at least found what you were looking for.” And he meant it. As much as it hurt to think of what happened, he did truly hope the other had found his purpose.

Grimmjow just stared at him for a bit, trying to guaging Ichigo’s emotions. He spoke up, his voice carrying a note of cautious optimism. "I found my passion, though," he said, a small smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. "Construction. I’m actually in college now, working towards a qualification for it, but I do have a job in it at the moment."

Ichigo's eyes widened in surprise. "Construction? Really?"

"Yeah," Grimmjow said, a bit of his usual bluntness returning. "Turns out, I like building sh*t. Making something solid, something real. It feels... right."

Ichigo smiled, the tension in his shoulders easing a bit. "That's good to hear. I'm studying data science. It’s challenging, but I like it."

Grimmjow chuckled, the sound a bit rough but genuine. "Figures you’d go for something like that. Always had that stubborn, strong-willed brain of yours working overtime."

Ichigo rolled his eyes, but there was a hint of a smile on his lips. "And you’re still as sarcastic as ever. Some things never change."

Grimmjow smirked. "Wouldn't be me if I wasn't, right?"

They both laughed, the sound slightly easing the lingering tension between them.

Can't change the weather, might not be forever ('til the day that I die)

Grimmjow leaned against his car, watching Ichigo approach with a mix of anticipation and nervousness. They were twenty one now. A little older and wiser from back in the day.

It had been ten months since they found one another again, and eight since they rekindled their relationship.

"Hey," Ichigo greeted.

"Hey," Grimmjow replied, trying to keep his tone casual. He pushed himself off the car and walked over to Ichigo, his mind racing with the words he wanted to say.

"You good?" Ichigo asked, noticing the hesitation in Grimmjow's demeanor.

"Yeah, just... thinking," Grimmjow said, scratching the back of his head.

Ichigo raised an eyebrow, his curiosity piqued. "What is it?"

Grimmjow took a deep breath, his blunt, sarcastic exterior softening just a bit. "You wanna take that trip we planned out?"

Ichigo's eyes flickered with a variety emotions—hurt, nostalgia, hope, and something more. So much more.

"I was thinking... with summer break coming up and all, maybe we could actually do it this time. The trip, I mean."

Ichigo stared at him for a moment, processing the request. "You want to go on that road trip? After everything?"

Grimmjow nodded, his eyes meeting Ichigo's with sincerity. "Yeah. I know I messed up before, and I get if you don't want to, but... I want to make it right. I want us to have that adventure we talked about."

“But you already took the trip”, Ichigo responded.

“Not with you, Ichi. And not the way we intended it to play out.”

There was a pause as Ichigo considered the proposal, his stubborn, strong-willed nature battling with the trust they had rebuilt. Then, a small smile tugged at the corners of his lips. "Okay. Let's do it."

Grimmjow's relief was palpable. "Really?"

Ichigo nodded, his smile growing. "Really. It's about time we did something crazy together."

Grimmjow's smirk returned, more confident now. "You sure you can handle being stuck with me for that long, Kurosaki?"

Ichigo rolled his eyes, a familiar fire in them. "I think I can manage, Jaegerjaquez."

But if it's forever, it's even better

Grimmjow and Ichigo walked side by side down the familiar streets of Kyoto, the late afternoon sun casting long shadows on the pavement. Grimmjow, now twenty three and a general contractor, had a confident stride, his presence commanding attention even in casual clothes. Ichigo, equally matured at twenty three but still with a year left in his data science studies, walked with the same stubborn determination that had always defined him.

As they approached Grimmjow's apartment, their conversation drifted from mundane topics to memories of their high school days.

"So, you finally decided to move in with me?" Grimmjow teased, a smirk playing on his lips.

Ichigo shot him a playful glare. "Oh, please. You were the one who called me every other night, whining about missing my cooking. I just have to move in."

Grimmjow chuckled, the sound deep and genuine. "Yeah, well, your cooking isn't that bad," he admitted with a shrug.

They reached the entrance of the apartment building, and as Grimmjow fished out his keys, he glanced at Ichigo. The orange-haired man was busy talking about his recent project, his eyes lighting up with passion. Grimmjow's heart swelled with affection.

"Hey, Ichigo," Grimmjow said, his tone casual as if he were commenting on the weather. "Wanna get married?"

Ichigo stumbled slightly, his words catching in his throat as he turned to look at Grimmjow with wide eyes. "What did you just say?"

Grimmjow shrugged nonchalantly, unlocking the door and pushing it open. "You heard me. I said, do you wanna get married?"

Ichigo stood there for a moment, processing the blunt proposal. "Grimm, are you serious right now?" His tone was incredulous, a combination of shock and amusem*nt.

Grimmjow leaned against the doorframe, his blue eyes locking onto Ichigo's with an intensity that left no room for doubt. "I’m as serious as the f*cking colour of my hair. I can’t see myself doing this life thing without you. It would suck. So, what do you say?"

Ichigo's initial surprise melted into a stubborn determination. "You think you can just throw that out there like it's nothing and expect me to—"

"Yes or no, Kurosaki," Grimmjow interrupted, a familiar smirk tugging at his lips. "Stop overthinking it."

Ichigo's mouth opened and closed a few times before he let out a short laugh. "You're unbelievable, you know that?"

Grimmjow's smirk widened. "So, is that a yes?"

Ichigo rolled his eyes, but a smile crept onto his face. "Yeah, it's a yes, you idiot."

Grimmjow's smirk softened into something more genuine as he pulled Ichigo towards his being by the shoulders for a hug. "Good," he murmured into Ichigo's hair. "That's all I needed to hear."

I knew you in another life

You had that same look in your eyes

I love you, don't act so surprised

Grimmjow found himself in a vast, desolate landscape, the sky a tumultuous swirl of dark clouds and crimson hues. He stood tall, his body covered in the menacing white armor of his released form, Pantera. Sharp, feline features accented his appearance, his blue hair wild and eyes glowing with a fierce intensity. His claws were elongated, ready for combat, and a long tail swished behind him, emphasizing his predatory nature.

Facing him was Ichigo, clad in the traditional black robes of a Soul Reaper. Ichigo's orange hair was as vibrant as ever, and his eyes burned with determination and resolve. He wielded a massive, black-bladed Zanpakuto, the spiritual pressure around him crackling with raw power.

Their eyes locked, and for a moment, there was a mutual recognition, as if they had known each other in another life. Despite the circ*mstances, there was no fear in Grimmjow's heart, only a strange sense of familiarity and inevitability.

With a battle cry, Ichigo charged forward, his blade swinging with deadly precision. Grimmjow met him head-on, their weapons clashing with a resounding impact that echoed through the barren land. They moved with incredible speed, a blur of black and white as they exchanged blows, neither willing to back down.

Ichigo's strikes were powerful and relentless, each swing of his Zanpakuto aimed to take Grimmjow down. But Grimmjow was equally formidable, his movements fluid and agile, countering Ichigo's attacks with his own fierce onslaught. The air was filled with the sound of their battle, the clash of steel, and the roar of unleashed energy.

Grimmjow's released form gave him an edge in speed and strength, his claws slicing through the air with lethal precision. He unleashed a barrage of attacks, his predatory instincts driving him forward. Ichigo, however, matched him blow for blow, his resolve unyielding.

As they fought, Grimmjow couldn't shake the feeling that he knew Ichigo from somewhere beyond this battlefield. There was something in Ichigo's eyes—a look of determination, strength, and an unspoken connection that made Grimmjow feel as if they were meant to face each other.

The battle raged on, neither side gaining the upper hand. The intensity of their fight only deepened the bond they seemed to share, a bond that transcended the current clash of swords and claws. It was as if their souls were intertwined, destined to meet and test each other in this eternal struggle.

Grimmjow found himself awake, the dream fading but leaving a lingering sense of familiarity and longing. He turned to see Ichigo lying next to him, sound asleep, his features soft and peaceful. Grimmjow reached out, gently caressing Ichigo's cheek, feeling the warmth of his skin.

The dreams didn't scare him. Instead, they filled him with a strange sense of reassurance, as if the battles they fought in another life only strengthened the bond they shared in this one. He leaned down, pressing a soft kiss to Ichigo's forehead before settling back down beside him.

Grimmjow watched Ichigo for a moment longer, his heart swelling with love and unspoken understanding. Whatever their past lives had been, whatever battles they had fought, he knew that in this life, they were meant to be together. With that comforting thought, Grimmjow closed his eyes, letting sleep take him once more.
